NPCs are characters that add contrast to the game's lore where they provide information, some are categorized as quest givers, while others are categorized as Merchants whom you can trade with or request for certain services. A shame, since it’s been fun up to this point. NPCs are characters that can be interacted with or are shown in the game. If YT vids and guides can’t help, I’m out. I’ll give this a few more hours go but this game is now on the clock for me. When I’m near a wall and he approaches, suddenly I’m seeing nothing but closeups of him or the wall and I literally have no vantage point of the fight at all. The camera is a huge problem at times in this fight too. The Grave assistance is next to useless here, btw, lasting 10-20 seconds, no matter how powerful. Luckily, I backed up my save last night before starting the fight, so will just erase system saves and copy them back over. I’ve used nearly 300 Shrine points on Elixirs and Ochoko Cups.

No other boss in the game so far has been this ridiculous with virtually no Ki damage inflicted after huge barrages. Best I’ve done is get him to around 50% health.

Seems you need around 15,000 damage in one sequence before he falls down, by my estimation.

Using both Sloth and Weakness on him, plus Water Talisman and Power Pill for me. Of course, no staggering, no falling, nothing. I got 6 consecutive hits on him at around 1500+ damage each. Got a Level 118, 5-Grave helper and we were whaling on him for several seconds. First of all, this boss is so ridiculously OP, it’s not even funny. OP: This is where the game starts not to be fun anymore and more of an irritant, IMO. Usually, if I want to experience that much frustration, I’ll just go out on a date. Thanks to all for their suggestions and even to the ”git gud” snobs for motivating me. Surprisingly, my Soul Core attacks were the only thing to deplete his Ki and cause a collapse (none of those Soul Cores listed enhanced Ki damage in their effects). The main way to defeat him is to wait for him to run headlong in your direction, at which point you can use a fast projectile or a well-placed vertical attack to destroy one of. When the Axe “spoke to me”, I just went to town and didn’t back off. In its Yokai form, Shibata is an extremely dangerous opponent capable of very fast attacks and with an impressive resistance to damage. My Benevolent Grave helper shockingly survived the entire fight (first time in the game that’s happened for me in a boss fight). I switched to a Yokai Axe (Sentient) and it became self aware at the exact right time, right after a Shift (or during it maybe?) and I had poured all my water buffs + into every piece of equipment on me. UPDATE: My fingers are still trembling as I type this but after several hours, finally got that SOB.
